The general perception about women’s in Pakistan is that they are confined in the houses in a tightly controlled manner. To some extent, it is true, although, there is a visible change as women’s, being 53% of the total population, are finding new avenues to express themselves. In an ideological country like Pakistan women rights depend on perceptions like women’s as men's subordinates and family honor. Prevalence of perceptions like these hinders in the efforts to provide women’s with any development opportunity or rights.
A recent report by World economic forum on Global gender gap (2013) highlighted the deterioration of women's rights or increased gender discrimination in a country like Pakistan, which is the result of perceptions like these.
ISM Council emphasized on women's development through gender equality & women’s empowerment as they are a pathway to achieving the sustainable development. ISM Council coordinates efforts, whether at a national or global level to bring all discriminations based on gender, race, and language to their lowest level. This enables women to participate equally with men in public dialogue and decision-making and influence the decisions that determine the future of their families and countries. Our council facilitation to women’s in having these rights does not necessarily means giving them special privileges; our efforts are an attempt that women’s can enjoy the same rights that are enjoyed by men. Based on this notion our council focuses on two main areas ranging from educational attainment to health and survival rights to women’s in Pakistan.
