ISM Council is designed to be the respected voice and face of educational leadership and the thought and practice leader in relation to quality teaching in the basic and professional sectors. It is intended to enhance the status of teachers and education leaders and create public confidence in them by working in the public interest.
ISM Council will support the professional leaders to be up to date and confident in working with evidence about the best and emerging practice. It will lead debate and actively engage teachers and education leaders on issues of professional practice, help shape the composition of the workforce and make a genuine difference to teaching and learning.
ISM Council is intended to be recognised as an excellent regulator. It will set and maintain clear, transparent, evidence-based standards for entry to the profession and for ongoing certification of practice. It will also manage robust, efficient and exemplary disciplinary functions.
ISM Council will further lift public confidence that the profession protects the safety and welfare of students, transparently holding itself accountable to organizations and delivering great educational outcomes.
